Malaysia, Singapore and begining of Bangladesh

The Petronas towers

Malaysia was a fairly big contrast from Indonesia. The country seemed to have much more affluence.  I was able to spend a day touring around Kuala Lumpur, and saw the the Petronas towers.

After Malaysia, I took a bus to Singapore where I spent three days. My Dad's friend Viroy(a Singaporean businessman) met me there, showed me around the city, and paid for all my expenses. It was very generous and a huge blessing, because Singapore can be very expensive. I honestly did not know anything about Singapore before this trip, and expected it to be similar to Indonesia. I found that Singapore is actually the nicest, and cleanest big city I've ever visited.

I arrived in Bangladesh, and the next morning went to a village with the worker here to visit schools, and orphanage, and baptizenew believers. We spend three days in the village, and now I am at the worker's house in the city. I'll leave for the hospital tomorrow.

Leaving Indonesia

A view from the village where I lived
I'm leaving Indonesia, but have grown very close to the family here. I have learned so much from the them, and the work they do for the Lord up here. I'm sad to leave, but I'm also excited for what's ahead. I have a lot of video footage of us riding motorcycles to a fairly remote village so they could teach Bible stories, the volcano erupting(just spitting out lots of ash), me harvesting potatos, teaching english, and more. So i'll try to get some of that on here soon.

Indonesia

I just got off skype with my sisters, and am told that I need to provide more frequent updates. So here is a short update :)

A view 20 minutes from the house of the family I am staying with.
I am currently in Indonesia on the island of Java. I flew from South Korea to Singapore, and from Singapore to Jakarta Indonesia. Jakarta is a big city with a very high population. I spent two nights in Jakarta, and met a guy named Ferry who happened to be a christian. He showed me around Jakarta on his motorcycle for a day, and I left the next day for the village where the family I am visiting lives. It took a 13 hour train ride to Surabaya, another two hour train ride, and an hour car ride up winding mountain roads to get to their house. I've never experienced any landscapes like I have here. It is very beautiful. The house sits about nine miles from a volcano that has been very active recently, spitting up lots of ash. I have spent most of my time with the family, learning from them, and serving them in whatever ways possible. I can't write their names on here, or show them in my pictures or videos, but I'll try to make another video update here soon. I'll be here until Saturday (Jan 22), then fly to Malaysia, and then take a bus to Singapore to meet up with an old friend of my Dad's, and spend a few days there. I'll finally arrive in Bangladesh the 26th.

Minsuk's story

When Minsuk came back to Korea, he began to attend a local Korean church. It was in that church that he met his wife Jinhee. Minsuk and Jinhee have been on several mission trips themselves, and are passionate about seeing the nations come to Christ.

This whole experience has given me a new vision for reaching out to international students at CU. Every year God brings the nations to Colorado, and Minsuk is such a great example of what can happen when you reach out and show the love of Christ to international students.

South Korea

*The video is better quality if you watch it on youtube :)*
On the way to Bangladesh, Robby was able to book my plane tickets so that I have several layovers to visit family friends in a number of different countries. My first stop was in South Korea, where I spend 3 days with Minsuk. We met Minsuk a few years back while he was doing culture exchange at CU. He came to Christian Challenge, and eventually began a relationship with Christ. It was encouraging to see how Minsuk has kept the faith, and grown into a strong man of God.
